When the Light Went On

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I realized what was going on when I decided to get a credit card with cash back rewards for our everyday spending. The intention was to pay off the credit card every week, which I did until Q decided to go to the casino with it two weeks before our wedding. I never thought that he would do this because he has always hated debt and credit cards, in fact he never even had a checking account until we met. Q was strictly a cash man.

$1,000 later, Q never even told me what had happened, I found out when I logged on to make my payment for the week. I was so disappointed I almost called off the wedding, but I thought this was a phase. We had a discussion about it, burned his credit card, and I thought the problem was taken care of. Boy was I wrong.

How the Gambling All Started

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

My husbands gambling problems started out slowly. When we first met, we would go to the casino every once in a while and have some fun with $20 each. This was never the rent money and always occured while he was working. Q was always the one dragging me away from the ATM when my $20 was gone, so it is really surprising that I am the one writing this blog and not him. I would even sneak out at night without him knowing to go and gamble.

After a while, it was Q going to the casino without me. It started with $50 here and there which didn’t strap us because he was working. If I busted him there, I would join him for a little fun and many times he’d leave without me while I stayed and blew even more money.
