I Know We’ll Be Going Through This Forever

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

So Q has finally been working steadily for a three weeks now and of those three weeks Q has decided to take his paycheck to the casino twice. I think he thinks he can control his problem and take just $10 in and walk out happy that he hasn’t lost more. Typical of a problem gambler, he chased the loss of that $10 and eventually lost $300.

The first week, I thought it was suspicious that he wasn’t home when I arrived home from work on Friday, so I took a ride. My heart just sank when I found his truck out in the parking lot and then went in and found him. This time, when I found him there at least he didn’t start cursing me, which he has done in the past. Maybe we’re making headway there? On the other hand, he still is blaming the casino for not catching him when he walked in because he’s “self-banned“. Once again, I tried to play counselor (I know, wrong move) and explain to him that it’s not the casino’s fault that he walked in there.

This time hurt more than others because it had been so long since he had lost this kind of money. In my own little world, I was thinking we were through the worst of everything. I knew the Dirty Money that I took a couple of weeks ago would come back to haunt me and I was right. I hope that this is just a shake up to bring me out of my fantasy land and not a long-term relapse of all the work he has done so far.

I’M BACK, PLEASE HELP HIM STOP.

Big Crumbs Goes 2.0 and allows some International Members

Monday, November 19th, 2007

If you live in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Australia you are now eligible to sign up for Big Crumbs and start getting some of the best shopping rebates on the web. There’s nothing to lose and it’s totally free. Besides, they’re even better than ever after adding the features in the upcoming paragraphs.

For the last couple of weeks now, Big Crumbs has been holding out what they have under their sleeve to make them one of the best rebate sites on the web and they finally revealed it today. They have gone 2.0. One of the best rebate sites on the web is now a social network as well. You can now email the member that referred you as well as people you have referred. Build a network of friends to share shopping tips with as well as other things. The website is now Verisign secured as well as scanned by Hackersafe daily for even more added peace of mind.

Just like My Space, you’ll have the ability to make your profile visible to the public or not and you’ll be able to block certain users from contacting you if you so wish.

The best part about everything is they have added more cash back offers, the ability to make shopping lists, and a place where you can promote your eBay store if you have one.

I’ll be updating more as I get to explore the new site some more.

There has been something brewing at Big Crumbs for the last couple of weeks now, but they were not able to reveal what it was all about. It looks like everyone will find out in a couple of hours now, it looks like they have changed ISP’s along with updating everything about their online cashback program.

I’ll come back and post as soon as I have more information.

Rasino Referendum Fails Due to Racism?

Casino Opponents are Racist - Maine Today

There may have been some people that wanted to keep the Passamaquoddy tribe down, but maybe they need to rethink the reasons why most people voted against this referendum. Did they ever think that the people that voted against this casino were once affected by a loved one that had a gambling addiction? Maybe they moved to this particular area to get away from casinos because they are a compulsive gambler? Who knows, this area could be thought of as a safe haven for people affected negatively by gambling.

I think that the people of Washington County would have voted this bill down no matter who was proposing it. Maybe they should try that out, have a company owned by the majority come in a propose a racino and see how far they get. I’ll bet it’s the same results.

I’m thinking that the Passamaquoddy tribe needs to come up with a better solution to bring their people out of poverty because it doesn’t look like this racino will pass, seeing as they’ve been trying for 15 years. Think of the good things they could have done for their tribe with the $700,000 in advertising they purchased to get this thing passed. That’s only this time around, what did they spend prior to this? There’s a lot of education that could have been paid for with that money.

Wake up people, this referendum didn’t fail due to racism, it failed because people care.

Let me know what you think.

Do you think you’re about to be Scammed?

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

If you think you’re about to be scammed by a fake check operation, please check out this website first: www.fakechecks.org.

If you have a loved one that may be new to the web, please have them look over this site. If we educate people to stop taking these checks, then this particular crime will stop. Of course, I’m not naive, I’m sure they’ll find another scam, but I don’t want to see another person lose any more money to these crooks.

Thanks.

Dirty Money?

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

This week my husband stopped to get a pack of cigarettes for himself at a smoke shop that just happened to be attached to a casino. True to his form, he couldn’t resist the slot machines and stuck a couple of dollars in. Well, low and behold, he actually won a significant amount of money and after putting about $250 back into a couple of machines he left the building with 95% of his winnings still intact and in hand.

Q has asked me once before what I would do in this type of situation, would I accept the money? Well, this is a tough call because if I accept the money and state how much it will help us out then I’m affirming his gambling ways. He has provided for his family and the money came from gambling. If I don’t accept the money, then I know he will eventually piss it all away at the casino again. I did end up accepting the money after expressing my disappointment and smacking him on the backside of the head (not hard really, more in jest). To be honest with you, it really will go a long way in helping us get caught up with everyday bills and paying the property taxes.

So, what would you do in this situation?
