Like anything else, drugs, alcohol, food, sex... If someone bets their whole life savings and can't buy their children shoes, I would hardly blame the bookie or establishment collecting the bets. There needs to be a little self control in life. If there weren't everyone would cheat, steal, stay high and bet their life savings away on tv shows. Is alcohol, drugs and gambling a good thing? Probably not, but it's part of our free society and the right to choose. Take it away and we're all caged. I'd rather throw an extra buck on the lottery and have fun... go to a party and have a couple of drinks...and bet my friends on whether or not Paula will be stoned on Tuesday night... It's all in fun until people lose control. That has to be changed not by government or by bookies... THAT has to come within one's self.
