I found a Guide to Beating Addiction over at ExperienceNewThings.com the other day and found that he has some extremely helpful tips to getting over any addiction.

The one thing that the blog post stated which I have been driving home to Q is to find something to replace the gambling. Scrap recycling is Q’s new addiction. On a good night, he can bring in a decent amount after paying for his gas and the rental shed that he keeps with his buddy. Q has also started selling on eBay as part of this, but he really hasn’t taken to that as well as I had hoped. He does go through his phases.

Are you or a loved one going through a recovery period? Feel free to share the “new” addiction that has replaced the unproductive one.

I just wrote something a while back on getting over addiction… One thing I may not have included is what replaced my addiction… A good online multiplayer video game (Call of duty 4)! I wouldn’t say I’m addicted to it though, but instead challenged by it and I suppose to better myself, I am addicted to challenge itself.

I am currently on the comeback trail mostly caused by my addiction to younger, beautiful women. The last one took me for almost $800K and pretty much took away 40 years of accomplishment. I’m sure I’m not the first guy to fall victim to a younger womens allure but it sure is a cold splash of water in the face.

Best of luck to you and Q in killing that Gambling addiction!

I think I used to be quite addicted to gaming? Replacing that not-quite-productive one with blogging.
